Course Description
As part of the training series the Scientific Computing team is offering the second Linux course, Intermediate Linux, to more deeply familiarize researchers with the tools they may need when working with the Linux OS. This training is meant to be only for Linux topics but based on the services the Scientific Computing team provides. This class will provide a hands-on session.

  • Visualize text files: cat, tail, head
  • Text editors in console and graphical: nano, emacs, vi, genie
  • Compressing files
  • Standard input/output
  • I/O Redirection
  • Controlling processes
  • Command shortcuts
  • Basic bash scripting
  • Loading modules on ERISOne

Requirements

  1. Basic knowledge of Linux
  2. Bring a laptop, either Windows or Mac.
  3. Request an ERISOne account in advance. Please fill the form ERISOne Account Request Form.
  4. Install the NoMachine Enterprise Client. Please find Instructions in the KnowledgeBase.
