  • Changes to Cybersecurity Enforcement 
    • ​Partners has embarked on a strategy to improve the computing experience across the breadth of devices used at work to assure productive, clean and stable computers (Windows PCs, Apple Macs, smartphones and tablets).   • Mac High Sierra OS Alert
    • ​On September 25, 2017, Apple is releasing their next Operating System (OS) for Mac laptops & desktops, macOS High Sierra. At this time, we recommend you do not upgrade your Mac as this may impact your ability to use enterprise services. The expectation is the first minor version of High Sierra (version 10.13.1) will be stable for the Enterprise. Stay tuned for additional updates to be broadcast in the next couple months.
       
  • EndNote Software - Interest Survey
    • ​Would you be interested in purchasing EndNote Software if offered at a discounted rate? Please take a brief survey to help us understand the volume of licenses needed in hopes to better secure a discounted rate for researchers across Partners HealthCare affiliates.
    • EndNote is the industry standard software tool for publishing and managing bibliographies, citations and references on the Windows and Macintosh desktop.
    • Each EndNote license allows the software to be installed on up to three computers, Mac and/or Windows.

  • Linux Training
    • ​​​Intro to Linux on Thursday, October 5 from 3-5p.m.  REGISTER
    • This course is designed for individuals with no knowledge on Linux or those who want to improve their basic knowledge and familiarize with the ERISOne environment. 
    • Intermediate Linux on Thursday, November 2 from 3-5p.m.  REGISTER
    • This course will more deeply familiarize researchers with the tools they may need when working with the Linux OS. Basic knowledge of Linux is required.
       
  • ERISOne Linux Cluster Customer Survey
    • ERIS Scientific Computing wants to hear what applications customers view are the most important in use on the ERISOne Linux Cluster today and what should be added in the future. Please complete a brief survey. Requests for new applications for ERISOne can be made anytime by completing this request form.
       
  • Upcoming Tech Lunches
    • Thursday, November 2, 2017, 12:00-2:00p.m. - there is no October Lunch.
      The November 2, 2017 lunch will be held at Assembly Row, not the Prudential Center, 11th floor​, and we will use Livestream, not Webex.  Details to come.

      • Neil Coplan, Senior Manager of the ERIS Research Computing Core and John Weng, Manager of ERIS BWH Research Computing will discuss ERIS web hosting options, Word Press best practices and Plesk. 
      • Michael Small and his team from Dropbox Enterprise will provide an overview of Dropbox, touching on the company, its mission, as well as product features such as access, sharing, administration and security.  Michael and the team will also present how Dropbox is applied to use-cases commonly found in the *research community.
