R is a free and open programming language for statistical computing, data analysis, and graphical visualization. Along with this powerful software, comes a dynamic and vast community. The Partners R User Group seeks to bring this community together to share ideas, discuss R related topics, and provide direction for new and experienced users.

The topics for this meeting include

  • Plans to build and grow Partners R Community
  • R Training Plans and Announcement
  • Partners RStudio/Shiny Introduction
  • Open Discussion about Partners R Settings

We are pleased to have 3 "Show-And-Tell" speakers.

  • Joseph Chou (NICU, MGH)
    • Leveraging Data from the Epic EHR: Clinical operations, quality improvement, decision support, and clinical research
  • Adam Wright (General Medicine, BWH)
    • Clinical decision support systems in electronic health records have been shown to improve the quality of healthcare.  However, such system are complex and can malfunction, and these malfunctions can be difficult to detect.  We will present research using R to detect anomalies in alert firing and acceptance, in support of smarter, more reliable clinical decision support.
  • Hossein Estiri (Laboratory of Computer Science, MGH)
    • R and R Studio together provide opportunities for tool development and analytics automation. The R community is also always trying to catch up with implementation of new Statistical Learning algorithms. I will describe some of my recent tool development efforts using R and R Studio and also preview my work on unsupervised/semi-supervised learning using clinical data.
