Effective March 1st, 2017, all submissions to the National Institutes of Health and all other Public Health Service agencies must be prepared using the ASSIST (Application Submission System & Interface for Submission Tracking) system. Proposals using an SF424 grant package in place of ASSIST will no longer be accepted after 3/1/2017.
Pre Award would like to thank all departments who have adopted the ASSIST system for proposal submissions since its inception at our institutions two years ago. They are happy to announce that we have achieved a 90% participation rate for applications submitted to National Institutes of Health and all other Public Health Service agencies utilizing ASSIST.
Our research community has embraced this new system due to its convenience and user-friendly interface. NIH Assist presents multiple benefits to Department Administrators and PI's, including:
- Reduction in redundant data entry
- Review NIH proposals as one Adobe document before submission
- Copy prior applications as a template for related proposals, resubmissions and renewals
- Validate applications prior to final submission to identify potential warnings and error messages that could prevent your proposal from being reviewed.
This new policy will help Pre Award maintain consistency and uniformity with our proposal review and submission process.
Research Management will be offering 'On Demand' NIH ASSIST training to help facilitate any remaining departments with transitioning to the ASSIST system. Please contact your Pre Award Grant Administrator to discuss your training needs.
