Launch of the Partners Biobank Portal!

The Partners Biobank Portal has been launched to facilitate sample/data queries

The Partners Biobank recently launched the Biobank Portal to help investigators query its inventory of samples and data. The Partners Biobank is a repository of consented samples (DNA, serum, and plasma) and health information which is available to Partners investigators. More than 26,000 patients are consented to the Biobank and 1,000-1,500 are added every month.

The Biobank Portal is a web-based tool that links stored samples for consented subjects to data about those subjects, including:

  • Clinical, laboratory and outcomes data from the electronic medical record (all RPDR data)
  • Survey data on lifestyle, behavioral, and environmental factors, and family history
  • Validated disease phenotypes
  • Sample availability (DNA, plasma, serum)
  • Method for selecting healthy controls based on Charlson index

In the Portal, researchers can create complex queries similar to RPDR queries using these data types to identify subjects with samples and request samples required for research.
