Vulnerabilities are discovered frequently in software and they put your computer, data and the enterprise at risk. In order to stay secure and compliant with Mass General Brigham policies, make sure that you are running a current, supported Operating System (OS) and that your software applications are up to date.

Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020. If you are currently running Windows 7 or older, you must upgrade to Windows 10 Professional.

  • Vendor-provided device: Work with the vendor. If the vendor device is not compatible with Windows 10, work with the Information Security and Privacy Office.
  • Mass General Brigham standard Windows devices: Devices are being upgraded by your IS Department.
  • Non-Standard Windows PC: Follow the instructions below.

Please review the Windows 10 minimum requirements. Check which edition you're using by right-clicking the Start button, clicking System, and finding the Windows Edition. 

Which scenario best describes your non-standard Windows PC? 

 The device runs Windows 7, 8 or 10 Home Edition. Option 1
