Speakers:

  • Beth Marshdoyle, Apple Account Executive Apple Consulting Engineers, Nina Kominiak and Warner Yuen will present and demo Appleā€™s ResearchKit. ResearchKit is an open source framework introduced by Apple that allows researchers and developers to create powerful apps for medical research. Nina Kominiak and Warner Yuen will describe use cases of medical researchers who are developing with ResearchKit. Following the use cases, there will be a technical discussion explaining how to develop with Researchkit and how Researchkit works with HealthKit.
     
  • Adam Fairhall, PHS Security Engineering Team Lead, Information Systems Security & Privacy Office and Veracode will present on Application Security Development Best Practices. The discussion will include the touch points and pitfalls of implementing Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC). The discussion will also review the necessary elements of an application security program: importance of application security, events & impact, application security best practices, non-functional requirements, threat modeling, coding standards, and testing.

The Research Technical Lunches are held monthly throughout the academic year with a summer break in July and Aug. The target audience is research IT administrators and managers who support institutional research departments and labs.
