October 2009
- Mike West discussed Exchange: current configuration and status, addressing current performance and capacity issues, and plans for Exchange 2010.
- Mike Cole gave an overview of the Partners content switch architecture in our DataCenters and discussed the overall architecture, services provided, current customers, examples and future plans.
September 2009
- Jennings Aske, the PHS Chief Information Officer, presented an overview of recent developments in information security law and regulation, upcoming security initiatives at PHS, and the long-term information security road-map.
- Steve Roylance, Research Computing, gave an update on the reverse proxy initiative.
- ERIS has launched a service allowing internal web sites and applications to be quickly exposed to public access without moving the server into a DMZ. The service is provided by a high-availability cluster of 2 linux servers running apache. HTTPS as well as cleartext HTTP are supported, and a wildcard SSL certificate is available for any DNS name directly under partners.org. Custom SSL certificates, load balancing and any other feature available in apache 2.2 are all configurable. Go here for more information.
- Announcements
- Partners shared and dedicated files areas (sfa-dfa) are no longer ftp enabled. The only supported enterprise ftp solution is Diplomat Transfer. Our own email-based Secure File Transfer service may also be another solution.
- Partners Help Desk will be rolling out a new website and have asked us to give feedback.
- Research Computing is training the Help Desk personnel to better triage Mac and non-standard PC calls.
- ERIS will soon be offering fee for service support, e.g. limited sysadmin.
- Research Computing has been given tuition waivers for the Pluralsight Windows HPC 2008 Developer class; if interested contact Jerry Xu.
