Issues Launching Multiple Citrix Workspace Apps on macOS Big Sur 11.6

Problem

Launching multiple virtual apps and virtual desktops using Citrix Workspace App for Mac is failing on macOS Big Sur 11.6

Note:

  • This is a trending known problem and the issue is limited to launching multiple virtual apps and desktops.
  • Citrix is investigating these reports to resolve the issue. In the interim, the workaround can be used if you experience this concern.

Notes on the issue:

  • Apple released a new version of macOS Big Sur 11.6. Launching multiple virtual apps and virtual desktops using Citrix Workspace App for Mac is failing on this version of macOS. Upon the 2nd or 3rd launch attempt it just spins trying to connect, and in the dock the Citrix Viewer icon is displayed.
  • Launching just one virtual app or virtual desktop using Citrix Workspace App for Mac should work fine on macOS 11.6. This issue is limited to launching multiple virtual apps and desktops.
  • Citrix is investigating these reports to resolve the issue. In the interim, the workaround below can be used if you experience this concern.

Workaround

Virtual apps and desktops can be launched using Chrome and Safari browsers, provided Auto Detect is disabled on them.

How to disable Auto Detect

  1. Open Citrix Workspace Account Settings

  1. Navigate to the Advanced tab

  1. Click on Verify Connection

  1. Click Already Installed

Note: This step should be completed quickly as the screen shown in Step 4 may switch to the screen shown in Step 3 in the case of a delay.

  1. Once Step 4 is complete, Auto Detect feature on the browser is disabled. Click on the Virtual Apps and Desktops of your choice.
  2. Click on the downloaded ICA files to launch the respective Virtual Apps and Virtual Desktops
