Dell Ordering - Purchasing a Computer

This article contains information for authorized department purchasers for ordering Dell computers. Only trained Purchasers can place orders for new computers.

To become a trained Department Purchaser, please login as a student, go to catalog, and register for the MGBE Dell Ordering course in HealthStream Learning Center

Non-Dell computer equipment is purchased in the Ergonomics Online Ordering application(NOT applicable to DFCI requisitioners).

MGH/GHC

NO

  • MGH has shifted the Dell computer ordering process away from department-level purchasing and unifying it under MGH IS. MGH users will submit the Employee Computer Equipment Request Form to purchase Dell computer products. If you are with “The General Hospital” please select “MGH.” If you are with “Mass General Physicians Organization,” please select “MGPO.” MGH users will not need the Dell training.

  • MGH users will still need access to the Ergonomics application to purchase non-Dell equipment including printers, scanners, and other peripherals. MGH users must watch the recorded training in order to be granted access to Ergo.

  • BWH will need both Ergonomics and Dell ordering access.

DFCI

  • DFCI will need access for Dell ordering.

  • DFCI will not have access to Ergonomics ordering.

  • MGB end users should use the Employee Computer Equipment Request Form to purchase Dell computer products for new hires or existing employees and do not get access to Dell ordering.
  • If you are with the Telecomm team, please submit a Digital Service ticket and our team will assign you to the courses since this will not be visible to you.

BASIC INFORMATION

Check the Status of your Order

Open a ticket with the Digital Service Desk and include the purchase order number. Your ticket will be assigned to the appropriate assignment group.

Quotes for Non-standard Items

If you need to order computer equipment that is not available in the Dell catalog, please contact Dell sales for a custom quote. 

Note:  Non-standard computer equipment cannot be imaged for use on the network.

Delivery

Please check Lead Times before placing orders. "Delivered" items will take another 2 weeks for the end user to receive them.  

Returns

There is a 30-day return policy on any Dell product. It is recommended that returned items to be packed in their original packaging. A re-stocking fee and return shipping fees may apply. 

Cancellations

Warranty Information

All devices have a 3-year warranty from Dell and additional 2 years of support by MGB Tech Teams.
