HOWTO: Uninstall the Cisco VPN Client for Mac OS X via Command Line

Purpose:

  • Instructions how to uninstall Cisco VPN client on MacOS via command line

Requirements:

  • MacOS 10.15 or newer
  • Cisco AnyConnect client 4.X or newer
  • You must have administrator privileges to uninstall the VPN Client. If you do not have administrator privileges, you must have someone with administrator privileges uninstall the product for you.
  • We recommend that you uninstall any previous version of the VPN Client for Mac OS X before you install a new version.

Instructions:

  1. Open a terminal window (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app)

  2. Run the following command: sudo /opt/cisco/anyconnect/bin/vpn_uninstall.sh

  3. Enter your password

  4. Answer Yes when prompted to remove all profiles and certificates
