BWH SPL Email Migration FAQ

If you need post-migration support please do one of the following:

Q. What day will my SPL email account be migrated to the Partners Exchange Email System?
A. The migration will occur at 10 PM on the night of  Monday June 8th, 2015.

Q. If I want to keep my @bwh.harvard.edu email address do I have to migrate to Partners Exchange Email System?
A. Yes.   

Q. I have no current affiliation with the SPL or related research labs. How can I deactivate my SPL (@bwh.harvard.edu) email account?

Q. Will I be able to view email currently stored on the SPL server after the migration?
A. Yes, the existing SPL email server will continue to function in a read-only mode for a limited period of time. You will be able to access email stored on the SPL server in the same way you currently do. During the transition period, you should copy any email messages you wish to save from the old SPL mailbox to your Partners mailbox.

Q. How do I access my Partners email from the web?
A. You can access your Partners email account from any web browser by visiting: http://www.partners.org/email

Q. What platforms/devices will I be able to view my email on after the migration?
A. Partners Exchange Email (2010) is viewable on a variety of approved platforms and devices, including:

  • Windows (Windows 7 and newer)
  • Mac (Mac OS 10.7 and newer)
  • iPhone, iPad, and iPad Touch
  • Linux (CentOS 6 through the "Evolution" email client)

Please Note: On Linux clients, Thunderbird and older versions of Evolution (as well as other email client applications) are not guaranteed to work.

Q. How do I install Outlook on my preferred device(s)?

Q. I requested a new Partners email address as part of this migration and need to sign my confidentiality agreement. How do I complete this?
A. Partners Confidentiality Agreement. Please print out the agreement, sign it, and email a scanned copy to rcc.partners.org. This agreement only needs to be signed if you requested a new Partners user name as part of this migration.

Q. What training and support is available for the migration?
A. A support staff member will be available on-site at 1249 Boylston Street on both Monday June 8th and Tuesday June 9th. Monday will consist mostly of basic Outlook support classes (attend as needed). Tuesday will be open office hours for any questions or issues that arise. Questions that arise after Tuesday should be directed to the Service Desk, rics@partners.org, or rcc@partners.org

10:00 – 10:50 Mac:  Enrolling in PEAS, installing MS Office and configuring Outlook for Mac
11:00 – 11:50 Windows:  Configuring MS Outlook (users should already have Outlook installed)
12:00 – 13:00 Linux:  Configuring Evolution
13:00 – 14:00 Break for lunch
14:00 – 15:00 Open office hours (outside the conference room)

Tuesday, June 9th (day of migration)
